In 2022, Hamilton County, Tennessee, recorded 147 deaths caused by opioid overdose, many involving individuals living with opioid use disorder (OUD). At ReVIDA® Recovery, we understand the critical need to support those impacted by OUD in Hamilton County and the surrounding communities.
Our mission is to offer compassionate, lifesaving medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to anyone in Red Bank and beyond who is ready to take the next step toward recovery. No matter what your journey has looked like before treatment, we’re here to provide you with the opportunity to heal, grow, and reclaim your life.
Conquer Opioid Use Disorder With MAT at ReVIDA® Recovery Red Bank
MAT plays a vital role in recovery for many people living with OUD. By combining FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies, MAT helps manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings.
One of the most commonly used medications in MAT is buprenorphine, which works by partially activating the same receptors in the brain that opioids do, but in a much more controlled and limited way. This helps your body feel as though it still has opioids in its system, easing physical withdrawal symptoms without creating a high.
Buprenorphine also has a built-in safety feature known as the “ceiling effect,” meaning that increasing the dose beyond a certain point won’t increase its effects, making it much safer and less likely to be misused.
Another benefit of buprenorphine is its ability to block other opioids from attaching to your receptors. This reduces the likelihood of experiencing a high if you return to use, providing additional protection as you move forward in your recovery.
Suboxone or Sublocade Treatment Near Red Bank Can Empower You to Take Your Life Back
There are several buprenorphine-based treatment options available, but two of the most commonly used are:
- Suboxone: This is a daily medication available in tablet or dissolvable film form. It combines buprenorphine with naloxone, a medication that helps prevent misuse by blocking the euphoric effects of opioids if they’re taken while on the medication.
- Sublocade: This is a once-monthly, extended-release injection given by your doctor. It delivers a steady dose of buprenorphine throughout the month, removing the need for daily dosing and reducing the risk of missed doses or misuse.
Both options are effective and can be tailored to fit your individual needs and lifestyle as part of a comprehensive recovery plan.
MAT offers more than just symptom relief; it gives you the tools to build a strong, lasting recovery. Here’s how MAT can empower you:
- Skip the worst withdrawal symptoms: MAT helps you avoid the intense, flu-like symptoms that often come with opioid withdrawal, so you can stay focused on healing instead of discomfort.
- Address the root causes of addiction: With cravings under control, you’ll have the clarity and stability to engage fully in therapy, work through emotional challenges, and rebuild meaningful parts of your life.
- Lower your risk of return to use: Research shows that individuals on MAT are more likely to stay in recovery long-term compared to those who go through detox alone.
- Receive ongoing, judgment-free support: MAT is a long-term process, and your care team will be there every step of the way. Your doctor, who specializes in treating OUD, will track your progress, adjust your treatment as needed, and provide support in a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment.
MAT and Post-Acute Withdrawal (PAWS)
Recovery doesn’t stop after detox. In fact, for many people with OUD, a phase called post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) begins weeks, or even months, into recovery. PAWS is a set of mostly psychological symptoms that can make staying on track more challenging. Common symptoms include:
- Brain fog
- Mood swings
- Trouble sleeping
- Impulse control issues
MAT helps reduce the intensity and frequency of PAWS symptoms. By providing ongoing stability, MAT gives your brain the time and support it needs to restore its natural balance, making it easier to stay focused and committed to your recovery.
