Living with an opioid use disorder (OUD) can make your life complicated. For many people, the condition consumes their money, time, and health. For some, it takes their life.
In 2023, more than 2,400 Virginians lost their lives to an opioid overdose. More than 2,900 Tennesseans died of an opioid overdose during the same period.
At ReVIDA® Recovery, we’re dedicated to providing quality opioid addiction treatment to all Appalachians. That’s why we offer a combination of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and behavioral health therapies to empower people to heal from OUD.
What We Treat: Opioid Use Disorder
We specialize in treating OUD at all of our ReVIDA® Recovery locations. Our dedicated staff empowers patients to recover from the use of prescription opioids like OxyContin, Vicodin, Percocet, Codeine, and more. We also treat patients who have been taking street opioids, like heroin and fentanyl.
OUD can happen to anyone. It occurs any time you develop a physical and psychological reliance on opioids of any kind. On a chemical level, this happens because opioids bind to the opioid receptors located throughout your central nervous system. This causes your body to release feel-good chemicals, like dopamine and endorphins.
These chemicals activate the reward center in your brain, which is why you want to repeat the initial behavior. Over time, you develop a tolerance for opioids, so you need more of the substance to feel the same effects. This cycle is what leads to opioid use disorder.
However, OUD isn’t just a physical condition. There is also a psychological component. Many people with OUD are living with co-occurring psychological conditions and trauma. For a lot of people, opioid consumption begins in an attempt to self-medicate.
How We Treat: Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Behavioral Health Care
We treat OUD using a combination of scientifically proven medications and evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques.
Buprenorphine, a partial opioid antagonist, is the active ingredient in medications used to treat opioid use disorder. It works by attaching itself to opioid receptors the same way a normal opioid would, but buprenorphine has a ceiling effect. This means that it will improve your withdrawal symptoms and reduce your cravings for opioids, but you won’t experience the “high” you associate with other opioids.
Medication treats the physical aspects of OUD, but therapy is how you’ll get to the root of the issue. We offer a combination of group therapy, individual counseling, and family therapy designed to meet your specific needs. In therapy, you’ll get a better understanding of your relationship with opioids, develop healthy coping techniques, and develop a sense of community with others in recovery.
Do I Need Treatment for Opioid Addiction?
Not everyone who takes opioids is living with OUD. However, if opioids are getting in the way of your daily life or if you experience withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking opioids, you could benefit from MAT for OUD.
These are 7 common signs of OUD:
- Spending more than you can afford or going into debt to pay for opioids.
- Taking part in risky behaviors, like driving, while under the influence of opioids.
- Thinking obsessively about the next time you can have opioids.
- Being unable to stop opioids despite multiple attempts to do so.
- Forgoing commitments or responsibilities to take opioids.
- Taking opioids despite concerns expressed by loved ones.
- Needing more and more opioids to feel their effects.

What to Expect in Recovery for Opioid Addiction: Treatment Options at ReVIDA Recovery®
There are multiple aspects to your treatment at ReVIDA® Recovery. Our combination of services ensures that you recover physically and psychologically. We also support you through the more practical aspects of recovery to help you sustain your recovery for the long term.
Our services include:
- Suboxone treatment for opioid use disorder is another buprenorphine-based medication. It comes in the form of a daily tablet or a film. The other active ingredient in Suboxone is naloxone. Naloxone, which is used to reverse the effects of opioids, prevents misuse of the medication in large quantities.
- Sublocade treatment for opioid use disorder is an extended-release buprenorphine-based medication. It comes in the form of a shot that’s administered monthly by your doctor. It’s injected as a liquid and forms a gel once it’s in the bloodstream. The gel pocket, known as a depot, releases a consistent amount of buprenorphine throughout the month.
- Individual therapy is where you and your therapist will work 1:1 to understand your OUD and any co-occurring mental health conditions. Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), you’ll learn about the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Over time, you’ll find healthier outlets for complex emotions.
- Group therapy is a space where you’ll connect with others in recovery. Here, you’ll develop a sense of camaraderie, learn from the experiences of others, and find collective support.
- Family therapy is designed to help you all move forward as a unit. OUD can have a serious impact on your most intimate relationships. Reconnecting with your loved ones in a healthy, respectful way is a vital part of recovery. Under the guidance of an experienced therapist, you’ll develop tools for managing interpersonal conflict and foster healthy relationships with one another.
- Your care coordinator will connect you with important resources to support your recovery. This can include help applying for aid, access to food, employment assistance, documentation for court appearances, and more.
- Telehealth services are available for established patients. This ensures that you can be consistent with treatment even when you don’t have access to transportation.
Does My Insurance Cover Opioid Addiction Treatment?
Yes, in most cases, insurance will cover treatment for OUD. At ReVIDA® Recovery, we accept most commercial insurance providers. Visit our insurance page to see if we work with your specific insurance provider.
In addition to commercial insurance, we also accept Medicaid. Medicaid, which is known as Cardinal Care in Virginia and TennCare in Tennessee, offers healthcare to people with limited incomes and with certain medical conditions.
If you cannot afford to cover the cost of treatment, ReVIDA® Recovery is here to help. In 2025, we began our Treatment for All program, which provides funds to Tennesseans who cannot afford treatment. Be sure to ask your admission specialist about any other scholarships that may be available.
