NASHVILLE, Tenn. – ReVIDA Recovery® Centers CEO Lee Dilworth today announced the addition of Amy Morris as Director of Quality and Compliance. Morris will work with ReVIDA’s seven locations in east Tennessee and southwest Virginia to maintain the highest quality of clinical care for treating opioid use disorder.

Morris brings a successful history of collaboration with law enforcement to ensure opioid treatment providers provide the highest quality of care throughout the tri-state region. On the federal level, Morris has collaborated with the Drug Enforcement Agency to develop and facilitate training in over 20 states.

Morris most recently served as an opioid use disorder clinical treatment specialist with the North Carolina State Opioid Treatment Authority, within the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services. This body is responsible for oversight of all 75 opioid treatment providers (OTPs) in North Carolina to ensure patients receive appropriate levels of care. Before that, Morris headed DEA compliance for a division of Acadia Healthcare.

“ReVIDA is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of care and compliance to ensure that our patients have the best opportunity to reclaim their lives from opioid use disorder,” said ReVIDA CEO Lee Dilworth. “We are thrilled that Amy will lend her talents and depth of knowledge to ensure ReVIDA continues to be the gold standard of behavioral healthcare in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.”

“Treating opioid use disorder in an effective, safe, and successful way is of paramount importance to communities across North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia,” said ReVIDA Director of Quality and Compliance Amy Morris. “I’m proud to have worked to ensure opioid treatment providers provide the highest quality of care in North Carolina and I look forward to working alongside the ReVIDA team to deliver that same level of care.”

“I’ve spent the past 30 years working in the behavioral healthcare space, and Amy Morris is far and away one of the nation’s premier experts on compliance and regulation in treating opioid use disorder,” said ReVIDA COO Ed Ohlinger. “We are ecstatic to have her join us and ensure that ReVIDA continues to provide excellent care to over 2,000 patients at our locations across Tennessee and Virginia.”

ReVIDA, based in Nashville, Tenn., most recently held the grand opening of its location in Wytheville, Va. in February.

A recent study by Virginia Commonwealth University noted that due to the recent expansion of Medicaid in the state, nearly 60,000 Virginians are eligible for opioid use disorder treatment. The highest unmet demand for treatment is in central west and southwest Virginia. ReVIDA’s three locations in southwest Virginia – in Duffield, Abingdon, and Wytheville – have been certified by the Virginia ARTS program and accept Medicaid patients.

According to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, only one in 10 people struggling with opioid use disorder receive treatment due to barriers such as lack of insurance or high out-of-pocket costs.

According to the Tennessee Department of Health, 1,268 overdose deaths in 2017 were caused by opioids, with Northeast Tennessee leading the state in the rate of overdoses. In neighboring Virginia, 1,227 people died of overdoses related to opioids in 2017. In Tennessee alone, a report from the University of Tennessee Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research details how the opioid epidemic has harmed the workforce participation rate, costing Tennesseans billions in personal income.
